Where I’m From

Poetry

Mark Rebellon

I came from the Garden that makes me relax

Surrounded by orchids, fortune plants, ti leaf, and yellow taps

I came from the Office doing my homework

English, history, math, science, now my head is ready to pop like a cork

I came from the Living room, lying on a couch

Television, coffee table, and lamp shade, they all make me slouch

I’m from a piano, playing beautiful music

Melodious rhythm, religiously therapeutic

I’m from the team of athletes

Basketball, table tennis, and badminton that beat the heat

I’m from the social media

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat, all multimedia

I came from the word of God, the Bible

Preach the message, oh, so wonderful

I came from Fiat Mihi Secundum Verbum Tuum

Let it be done unto me according to thy word

I came from Corinthians 1:13 where I patiently waiting for someone

Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, my life has begun,

I came from Our Lady of Charity

Guides my province with sincerity

I came from San Pedro Calungsol and San Lorenzo Ruiz

Saints of my dear country; they offered their life to God to be saved

from Apocalypse

I am from the Pearl of the Orient Sea

Beautiful islands that many want to see

I am from the Philippines

With unique ethnics, and magnificent scenes

I am from one nationality

A strong race, but with liberality

I am from two UNESCO World Heritage Sites

City of Vigan and Santa Maria Church, what a sight

I am from the sugar canes, suka, balikutsa, tagapulot, and basi

My loving town, Santa Maria,

A place where life is carefree
