Girls’ Softball Team Makes Finals
Honoka’a High’s brand new girls’ softball team is so new that some of the members had never even played the game before. Nevertheless, they gave it their all and low and behold, their show of spirit and grit – and beating Pahoa 15 to 3 in their last regular-season game, brought the Dragons all the way to the play-offs on Maui.
Coach Kau’i puts it, “As a coach, I would say this was a great experience for the first time being a head coach for softball. As a team we went through a lot of “lesson learned” experiences. Our team consisted of a mix of girls with some years of experience and without experience which had us starting the season with the basics. It was a rough road at the start but we definitely came a long way throughout the season and in the end, the girls did amazing for ending the season 3rd for BIIF and making it to the state tournament on Maui. It was an awesome group of ladies who have bright futures ahead. For my seniors, good luck with your next chapter in life. To my underclass ladies, keep working hard and always strive to be the best you!”
