Culinary Students Win Silver and Gold

Culinary+Students+Win+Silver+and+Gold

Congratulations to five students who participated in the FCCLA CTSO. (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America and  Career Technical Student Organization).
Tenth graders Brandi Hoopai and Danica Valera competed in the STAR Events, where their topic was food innovation. They were required to create two recipes that were targeted for high school students. One recipe had to have brown sugar and one with white sugar.  Both recipes could only include 10 grams of sugar or less. Their cookie recipe won silver in the event, second place.
In addition,  Kamaha’o Kanekoa, Caleb Kaniho and Gabe Key competed in the ACF Knife Cutting competition. They were required to perform five different knife cuts within 30 minutes. They went up against eight other teams from around the state and took the gold, first place.
Now the students have the opportunity to complete on the mainland this summer.
Congratulation HHIS Culinary Students!
