Ms. Anderson’s Fashion Design 1 and 2 classes did a project shortly before winter break. This project was to create a celebration dress made from unconventional materials. Everyone split into their own groups, and we began our work.
This project took place over a few weeks as everyone used coffee filters and tissue paper to create our dresses. We could dye the filters using liquid watercolors. We would dip the filters into the watercolor and dry them with a hairdryer. Then, we would fold and cut these filters as we saw fit and pinned them to a mini-dress form.
We had a whole bunch of other materials we could use, such as ribbons and trims.
The finished products were gorgeous, and no two dresses looked the same, reflecting all the unique people working on the dresses. The dresses are proudly displayed in the school’s main office for all to see.
