Federal agents for the Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) have teamed up with the local Hawaii Police Department to investigate, escort, and detain or deport families in Kailua-Kona. About two weeks ago, a 7-year-old boy from Konawaena Elementary School was removed from campus to be deported with his family. This, among other cases, has put fear and concern in the hearts of our families, friends, and educators. Teachers in the Kona community plan to rally and wave signs on Thursday, March 13, at 4:00 p.m., expressing their opposition to ICE taking students at public schools.
