We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Book Review
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

The novel “We Were Liars” is a captivating book Written by E. Lockhart. It tells the story of a rich family, the Sinclairs and their summers on their private island called Beechwood. The book is full of mystery and family secrets, with big unexpected plot twists.

The main character is Cadence, the 17 year old granddaughter of multi-millionaire Harris Sinclair. We get to experience the story from her point of view. At first we follow Cadence’s life as she spends idyllic summers at Beechwood island, with her cousins who are her best friends; until a tragic accident happens.

In the second half of the book things are not as they seem. Cadence is living a lie deceiving herself and the reader as well. As she recovers her memory, the novel  takes a huge turn that can shock anyone in a very big way. This book had a hold on me as I kept on wanting to read to find out more. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to experience a gripping novel.
